One of the favorite hobby horse issues for the Tea Party group and other Conservative voters is TAXATION:  no new taxes, lower taxes, no taxes.

 

Another way to look at taxes is to consider how your tax money is spent. The FY 2011 Obama budget continues the same general priorities from the Cheney Regime.  (Here's billions for Endless War and, oh, "Keep the change!")

The new Health Care program is the current straw man rallying point for all the anger and hatred of the elderly Caucasian Tea Party people and their fellow travelers.  They are still in a state of shock and at the denial stage; they cannot accept a non-white President.

 

Many people carp about welfare, health care and other social programs, but they ignore the inconvenient truth: the percentage of the budget that is generously allocated to war:                            39%

 

One of the largest "industries" in the U. S. is weapons manufacturing and now, thanks to Cheney The Dick,

we also now outsource military tasks to private contractors, like Halliburton/KBR, (who fly in slave labor from Africa to do the laundry and serve food to the troops and provide bottled water ($10) from the rivers in Iraq and Xe, the new, non-descript, name for Blackwater, which hires former Special Forces personnel and  mercinaries to do the dirty work that would be illegal for our troops to perform.

"Come you Masters of War, you that build the big guns, you that build the death planes, you that build all the bombs..."

 

BTW, are those costs for catering, laundry and killing listed as items in the military sections of the pie chart, or are they buried somewhere else?

 

As former Presidential hopeful mavericky Ross Perot liked to say, "Let's look at the chart"; see for yourself, where your tax money goes.  And, imagine what wonders we could perform with most of the 39% spent on war. And, when somebody starts bitching about taxes, change the subject to how they are spent.
