War with Iran - "We don't get fooled again !" OR Armageddon Russian roulette?

Expect the 41 Senators who signed a letter of support for Israel and FOX News and AIPAC and other operatives to begin to whip up the American public into a frenzy of fear about Iran.

Let's hope that the lies and jingoistic media hype that dragged this country into an un-necessary war with Iraq,                                                   RUSH TO WAR

where we squandered "blood and treasure" with no connection to the "vital interests of the United States," will be rejected by the American public.

 

Q:  From all the marrow and money expended in Iraq, "Qui Bono?"

      "Who benefits?" 

 

A:  Israel, and The Masters of War--the defense contractors.

 

Will a war with Iran repeat the same scenario? 

 

Will the corporate media stoke the fear of Americans with lies, exaggerations and plain bullshit?

 

Will the "Israeli Forty-One" Senate block feed the frenzy for the U. S. to come to the aid of an ally?  (Although there is no defense treaty.)

 

Will America be duped again with Israel saying:  "Let's YOU and Iran have a war!  We will hold your coat! Go get 'em!"

 

The jingoist war-mongers at FOX news will not tell you that Iran is not Iraq; the difference between the military might of Iraq and Iran is like comparing "syllable to sound." (Emily Dickinson)

 

After the first blow is struck, the toothpaste will be out of the tube, the genie will be out of the bottle and here is what will likely occur:

 

* Israel attacks Iranian nuclear sites; planes will drop "bunker buster" bombs that it purchased from the U. S. 

Make no mistake; these "mini-nukes" are hundreds of times more powerful than the bombs dropped on Japan in WW II.  The term "mini" conjures up a sense of small, but there is no small when the bomb is NUCLEAR.

Because it will have limited access by air, Israel will also launch missiles from submarines in the Arabian Gulf and land-based missiles from Israel.

  * In a "best case" for Israel, all of the Iranian nuclear materials are destroyed.  In a "worst case" for Israel, they make a huge miscalculation and their bombing releases a cloud of nuclear radiation that circulates around the planet, several times.  This would poison land, water, and air in many countries for decades.  

The prevailing wind patterns will dose Eastern Europe, Russia, India, China and Japan.  How will these countries react to such a disaster?  The Death Cloud would then pass over Hawaii and shortly arrive on the West Coast of the United States; then follow the prevailing jet stream across the entire country.  How will the U. S. react?

 

Finally, it will hit Europe.  How with the European countries react?

 

The Death Cloud will continue to circle the planet for many weeks, or months, assuring a thorough dousing of deadly radiation.

 

Is this want the Predictive Linguistics Project (Clif High, halfpasthuman.com) finds in language such as "Israel," "mistake" that puts a time frame in the next few months?  Is this what the Biblical scholars point to as a time when "all the countries of the earth will turn against Israel"?

 

* But, assuming there is no Death Cloud, Iran and all the other enemies of Israel in the Middle East will attack Tel Aviv first with missiles and then begin a land invasion.

 

* With her back against the wall, Israel will deploy her 200+ nuclear weapons; enough firepower to contaminate the entire Middle East (and all the oil) for hundreds of years.  Also, the release of that many nuclear weapons will create a Death Cloud and destroy the planet's eco systems.

 

The U. S. has gone into wars based on lies before:

 

* "Remember the Maine" lie that started the Spanish-American War.

 

* The fabricated "Gulf of Tonkin" attack that led to the Vietnam War.

 

* The WMDs and Iraqi drones and kites that would strike the U. S. "within 45 minutes" (Tony "Baloney" Blair).
President Obama must be steadfast in his determination to settle the Iran situation with diplomacy and patience, because, once the first shot is fired in this next war, the result could be the destruction of the planet; the real "War to end all wars."

 

We recommend that, before that first shot is fired by Israel, President Obama should state, unequivocally, that the United States will remain neutral in any conflict between Israel and Iran.  He must resist the cries of the "Israeli Forty-One" in Congress to entangle the United States in any war with Iran.  If the Congress does pass a resolution of war, he cannot veto it, but, as Commander in Chief, he can decide where, when, and how U. S. troops are deployed.

 

There is one simple reason to stay out of any Israeli-Iran war:  we are out of blood and treasure:  our military resources are threadbare and exhausted from the current wars; we are in deep debt as a nation, 

because Bush and Cheney funded their wars off the budget books through a series of "Emergency, Supplemental" allocations.

 

Listen:  this next war could destroy the United States and the global eco-system.  We cannot let the blood feud between a nuclear-armed Israel and her neighboring countries in the Middle East decide the fate of the entire planet.  The planet and all life on it are not Israel's to bet in this game of Armageddon Russian roulette.

Statement of Congressman Ron Paul - United States House of Representatives Statement on Motion to Instruct Conferees on HR 2194, Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act - April 22, 2010

April 23, 2010 "United States House of Representatives" -- Mr. Speaker I rise in opposition to this motion to instruct House conferees on HR 2194, the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act, and I rise in strong opposition again to the underlying bill and to its Senate version as well. I object to this entire push for war on Iran, however it is disguised. Listening to the debate on the Floor on this motion and the underlying bill it feels as if we are back in 2002 all over again: the same falsehoods and distortions used to push the United States into a disastrous and unnecessary one trillion dollar war on Iraq are being trotted out again to lead us to what will likely be an even more disastrous and costly war on Iran. The parallels are astonishing.

We hear war advocates today on the Floor scare-mongering about reports that in one year Iran will have missiles that can hit the United States. Where have we heard this bombast before? Anyone remember the claims that Iraqi drones were going to fly over the United States and attack us? These “drones” ended up being pure propaganda – the UN chief weapons inspector concluded in 2004 that there was no evidence that Saddam Hussein had ever developed unpiloted drones for use on enemy targets. Of course by then the propagandists had gotten their war so the truth did not matter much.

We hear war advocates on the floor today arguing that we cannot afford to sit around and wait for Iran to detonate a nuclear weapon. Where have we heard this before? Anyone remember then-Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice’s oft-repeated quip about Iraq: that we cannot wait for the smoking gun to appear as a mushroom cloud.

We need to see all this for what it is: Propaganda to speed us to war against Iran for the benefit of special interests.

Let us remember a few important things. Iran, a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, has never been found in violation of that treaty. Iran is not capable of enriching uranium to the necessary level to manufacture nuclear weapons. According to the entire US Intelligence Community, Iran is not currently working on a nuclear weapons program. These are facts, and to point them out does not make one a supporter or fan of the Iranian regime. Those pushing war on Iran will ignore or distort these facts to serve their agenda, though, so it is important and necessary to point them out.

Some of my well-intentioned colleagues may be tempted to vote for sanctions on Iran because they view this as a way to avoid war on Iran. I will ask them whether the sanctions on Iraq satisfied those pushing for war at that time. Or whether the application of ever-stronger sanctions in fact helped war advocates make their case for war on Iraq: as each round of new sanctions failed to “work” – to change the regime – war became the only remaining regime-change option.

This legislation, whether the House or Senate version, will lead us to war on Iran. The sanctions in this bill, and the blockade of Iran necessary to fully enforce them, are in themselves acts of war according to international law. A vote for sanctions on Iran is a vote for war against Iran. I urge my colleagues in the strongest terms to turn back from this unnecessary and counterproductive march to war.
