The U.S. government will independently verify how much oil has
leaked into the Gulf of Mexico from a ruptured undersea well owned by BP,
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said on Thursday.

The questions for
"Ken-Trina" Salazar are:
"Why have you been letting
BP have total control over the clean-up operation for this long?"
Today, Mr. Salazar you said: The Obama administration had been aggressive in its response to the spill but had inherited a regulatory system "that essentially was rubber-stamping whatever it was the oil and gas industry wanted."
OK, but you inherited that mess
FOURTEEN months ago! When buy a house with a
flooded basement, how long do you wait to get a sump pump? When you buy a used car and you know that the
oil plug is missing, how long do you drive it with the oil leaking all over the
road before you put in a plug?
"Was there a higher
priority for you in your Interior department FOR FOURTEEN MONTHS than breaking up the conspiracy
cabal in your MMS division, which was widely rumored to be corrupt and in the
pocket of Big Oil?"
"Why were you so trusting
of an Oil Giant?"
"Were you just incompetent,
or was there a more nefarious reason that you have been asleep at the
wheel?"
"Why haven't you
resigned?"
President Obama: you delegated
the responsibility for regulating and monitoring oil drilling to Mr. Salazar;
he has proven to be completely unable to handle the disaster in the Gulf. Are you waiting to be accused of being asleep
at the wheel, or are you ready to take decisive Executive action?
The generals from the Pentagon
are whispering in your ear, as Cromwell did with Henry the VIII; they say they
have a "final solution" to plug the leak: nukes.
They are telling you that the Russians have successfully exploded
"small" nuclear bombs to plug oil leaks and they are projecting an
80% likelihood of success.
After being on the job for FOURTEEN MONTHS, "Ken-Trina" finally announced that his embattled Minerals
Management Service will be broken up into three separate divisions in a
restructuring of how it handles offshore energy production.
If you let "Ken-Trina"
Salazar continue to fall further and further behind the event curve, you may
run out of options and be tempted to approve the application of a nuclear
device, or devices, in the Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. President, BP has been lying
about the amount of oil that is leaking, holding back information on the real
size and impact of the growing slick, and refusing to let anyone near the
disaster site. You can't play Mr. Nice Guy with these Greedy Bastards; it's
past time for you to kick some ass. The
people of the Gulf coast want to know: what has been more important on your busy
agenda than the destruction of the Gulf Coast, Florida and parts of the Eastern
Seaboard?
The discovery of heavy oil in
the Louisiana marshlands showed that authorities lack the capacity to track undersea
oil effectively, marine conservation biologist Rick Steiner said.
It also called into question a
containment effort that focused on oil on the surface of the Gulf, Steiner
said.
"I am very confident that a
lot of the oil that has come out has not surfaced yet and the government can't
track subsurface plumes," said Steiner, a retired professor at the
University of Alaska who has spent a week on the Gulf coast.
Meanwhile,
the U.S. government's weather forecaster said a small portion of light sheen
from the giant oil slick had entered the powerful ocean flow known as the Loop
Current, which could carry the oil down to the Florida Keys, Cuba and up the
U.S. East Coast.
